Amanda discussed the upcoming Block of the Month Skillbuilder. Kits have been ordered for people who want them. The tag for the BOM on instagram will be #rcmqgqal. The fundraising auction will be in November. We will be raising the upfront cost and including shipping in the initial starting bid.
Kris volunteered to contact someone locally about finding a place to donate pillowcases. She also mentioned a charity quilt challenge hosted by Project Linus for military children. Kris will be taking up donations through October.
The MQG National Guild dues have increased for next year. We are proposing raising dues to $30/year with an early bird rate of $25 for current members renewing by the January meeting. The vote was unanimous to raise dues for 2019.
There is interest in doing Brews to Benefit at Straight to Ale, so the officers will pursue that. Louise suggested that a sewing bee be a few hours after work with small projects and finger foods. Amanada suggested adding labels to charity quilts. Cynthia suggested a charity assembly - someone irons, someone cuts, someone sews. Another option is to divide people up by proximities, or project types.
Amanda discussed the plan for the banner that we will be starting in August.
Amanda went over the Modern Characteristics for modern quilts from Lisa's presentation from 2017 for the Make-it-Modern challenge that is being issued tonight. Everyone who was interested drew a modern quality to highlight in a mini or mug rug. Louise won the prize for the 2nd quarter charity blocks.
