This series will focus on constructing the Tamarack Jacket by Grainline Studio, which is available size 0 to 32. Note: You may elect to add the pattern to this order. If you do, the pattern will be provided to you in class, printed on Pellon non-woven material for direct tissue fitting with pattern pieces--no taping required.
In Session One, we'll examine common fit challenges found with structured jackets, and learn how to select the proper pattern size based on your body measurements. We'll also discuss the significance of fabric and batting choices in achieving the desired look and feel of your coat. We’ll tissue fit our jacket, and perform individual fitting adjustments to perfect our pattern. This class will cover the narrow shoulder adjustment and a full bust adjustment. Students may begin planning their quilt piecing placement and assembling their pieced panels in class.
In Session Two, students will have prepared their pieced and sandwiched coat panels. We will discuss jacket construction methods, final fit adjustments, and all the clean finishes to make your coat a sturdy years-long investment.
Student provides standard sewing machine and general sewing supplies, fabric and paper scissors, measuring tape, marking supplies, etc. Students may elect to separately purchase the Grainline Hood, Collar, and Pocket add-on sometime before Session 2.
