Tory Padden, a costume designer with over 40 years experience, presented an introduction to Fabric Postcards. The presentation reviews postcard design elements including, size, foundation/fillers, design elements, backing, and finishing touches.

Making Bias Binding

Beverly provided a program on Making Bias Binding. Differences between bias binding and straight binding were demonstrated. Tips and tricks were noted such as not putting a binding seam in the quilt corner, sewing bias binding strips together in random lengths, chain sewing the binding and ironing the seams open.

Kaleidoscope Quilts

If you were unable to attend the September meeting, you missed an informative program led by member Beverly Keyser on Kaleidoscope Quilts.

Beverly shared her quilts inspired by Bethany Reynolds' stack 'n whack method of cutting fabric. The fabric is then sewn to create a 'kaleidoscope' effect. Included in the presentation were numerous resources and tips on creating a successful and gorgeous stack 'n whack quilt.

MQG Webinar/Video Study Group

The inaugural MQG Webinar/Video Study Group kicked off with an informative presentation on paper piecing. We watched the video Fresh Quilting Episode 210: Freeze Paper Piecing by Nicole Neblett. The discussion followed with members noting the ease with which freezer paper could be used for large scale piecing. A handout was also provided with instructions on how to use freezer paper for piecing.
