Pam reviewed the current guild happenings, including: (i) the curves challenge; (ii) the Slack organizational challenge of works in progress; (iii) the community outreach block of a car; and (iv) the Lone Robin Sew Along of curves.
The next Sewing Saturday is March 5th, beginning at 11:30 AM via Zoom. On February 19th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the drop and swap will be held at Trina’s house. Members should look for the email with Trina’s address. Finally, the Community Outreach Committee will meet on March 12th, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the South Huntsville Library.
On leadership updates, the Guild successfully renewed with National MQG and located a less expensive storage unit. Special thank you to all the members who assisted with the move of supplies from the old storage unit to the new storage unit!
On the National MQG front, QuiltCon is this month. RCMQG will have great representation as several members will be attending.
Trina noted that there are over 8 Community Outreach quilt tops ready to be quilted. Members were reminded to go to the Community Outreach page on the website to record their contributions. Prizes will be awarded!
The DEAI report and Fundraising Committee report were deferred to March due to members traveling to QuiltCon.
The Membership Committee reported that the Guild currently has 38 members and the Guild wished Lori a Happy February Birthday! Secret Stitcher swap partners were emailed on 01/31/2021 with the first swap item (a postcard or fabric card) due to be mailed in March.
The Guild is currently accepting speaker suggestions for future programs in stash building/management, dying techniques, and transparency.
Crystal reviewed the works in progress organizational challenge and noted that the Social Media Committee will be hosting a member spotlight. If you are interested in volunteering to be featured on social media, please contact Crystal.
The Quarterly Bingo announcement was deferred due to computer technical difficulties.
Pam presented the Paper Piecing Challenge noting that members should select a paper piecing pattern that represents love. Reveal at the May meeting.
Pam presented a foundation paper piecing presentation and Sew and Tell items were shown.
