Amanda reviewed the current guild happenings, including: (i) the current challenge of Send a Message (reveal in July); (ii) the Slack organizational goal of the month of ironing; (iii) the community outreach block of crosses and pluses; and (iv) the Lone Robin Sew Along.
The next Community Outreach Work Session will be in August. The next Sewing Saturday is August 13th, beginning at 11:30 AM via Zoom.
On leadership updates, membership rates on the website have been updated to the prorated amount for the remainder of the year.
On the National MQG front, the workshop catalog has been posted on the MQG website; hotel rooms are open; and registration begins on August 16th at 9:00 AM with a new waiting room process. MQG Sessions, a new virtual event will be held October 13th -16th.
The Community Outreach Committee has several quilts to be quilted and has completed 30 quilts thus far this year. Members were reminded of the current Block of the Quarter — X’s and +’s. A new Block of the Quarter will be revealed in August. Members were reminded to go to the Community Outreach page on the website to record their contributions. Prizes will be awarded. I Spy Kits and Pillowcase Kits are available for pick up.
The DEA&I Committee will meet on July 23rd to discuss the community outreach event .
The Fundraising Committee informed us that pre-orders for the t-shirts and hoodies for the retreat are currently being taken. Danica reminded members to use Amazon Smiles if you purchase anything from Amazon.
The Membership Committee reported that the guild currently has 39 members and the guild wished Phyllis a Happy Birthday!
The Secret Stitcher Swap for June was a fat quarter. A presentation was shown on the fat quarters received.
Round #4 of Lone Robin was revealed as Sticks, Strips and Stripes.
Registration is now open for the retreat to be held the last weekend in September. Registration will close at the August meeting.
Registration is now open for the Carolina Oneta Watercolor Quilt workshop to be held on October 22nd; members may attend virtually or in-person at Calico Cove.
Members are encouraged to send pictures of their Sewing Pet Pals for inclusion on Social Media.
Third quarter Bingo survey will be sent out soon.
Amanda Conger provided a presentation on ‘Transparency’.
The Transparency & Dimension Challenge was discussed. Members are invited to make a mini that uses color value to create an effect of transparency or dimension.
Sew & Tell presentation was shown.
