Using Tory Padden’s August meeting fabric postcard presentation as inspiration, guild members worked on a fabric postcard design challenge. Postcards completed by the October meeting will be judged for a People’s Choice award.
Amanda reviewed future retreat dates for 2024 (Thursday, August 1st to Monday, August 5th), and for 2025 (Wednesday, August 13th to Monday, August 18th). Both retreats will be held at Place of Grace in Clarkrange, Tennessee. Sewcial Saturdays will be returning to in-person meetings beginning in January. Meetings will be held at the Community Room at the North Huntsville Library (Sparkman and Pulaski) from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Danica reviewed current events with The Modern Quilt Guild, noting the following: (i) QuiltCon volunteer sign-ups are open; (ii) the MQG 8th Annual Mini-Swap sign-ups are open; (iii) QuiltCon quilt submissions are open until October 31st; (iv) faculty applications for QuiltCon 2025 in Phoenix are open until January 31, 2024; (v) there are new on-demand educational videos; and (vi) there are new print on-demand books available.
Amanda reviewed the upcoming guild events, including: (i) the Sewcial Saturday on October 14th; (ii) RCMQG General Meeting on October 17th; (iii) Board elections on November 19th to 25th; (iv) the online fundraising auction on November 27th to December 3rd; and (v) the 2024 Board planning retreat on January 5-7, 2024.
Amanda reminded members to submit items for the November auction. Volunteers are still needed to photograph and track the auction items as they are submitted, as well as write descriptions for the auction items.
Amanda provided a recap of the Celebrate Quilting event noting several new inquiries about joining the guild and Debby Lee won the raffle quilt.
Sew & Tell presentation was shown.
