Amanda reviewed the current guild happenings, including: (i) the current challenges of Love Paper Piecing (reveal tonight) and the Send a Message challenge (reveal in July); (ii) the Slack organizational goal of the month of iscraps; (iii) the community outreach block of crosses and pluses; and (iv) the Lone Robin Sew Along.
There will be no Community Outreach Work Session in July due to the July 4th holiday, but we will pick back up on the first Saturday in August. The next Sewing Saturday is July 9th, beginning at 9:00 AM at S&R Sewing and Vacuum. The virtual component begins at 11:30 AM via Zoom. Drop and Swap will also occur at the Sewing Saturday. On June 25th, the MQG Webinar Study Group at 7:00 PM will review a webinar on entering a quilt into QuiltCon and Game Night via Gather begins at 8:00 PM with a dungeon escape room
On leadership updates, the guild is looking into printing a t-shirt and/or hoodie for the retreat. Further information will be sent to members.
On the National MQG front, the workshop catalog has been posted on the MQG website; hotel rooms are open; and registration begins on August 16th at 9:00 AM with a new waiting room process. Further information will be sent to members.
The Community Outreach Committee has several quilts to be quilted and has completed 30 quilts thus far this year. Members were reminded of the current Block of the Quarter — X’s and +’s. Members were reminded to go to the Community Outreach page on the website to record their contributions. Prizes will be awarded. I Spy Kits and Pillowcase Kits are available for pick up.
Information on the QuiltCon Community Outreach Challenge — Color Shift — was released. This year’s quilt will involve fewer people in the actual piecing of the quilt, but will allow more people to participate in quilting the quilt. Straight line quilting is acceptable, or quilters may hand-quilt. Photos of the quilt needs to be submitted in October.
The DEA&I Committee will hold a training session for committee members on June 25th.
The Fundraising Committee completed the Green Pea Press campaign with the next fundraiser of t-shirts and hoodies for the retreat. Danica reminded members to use Amazon Smiles if you purchase anything from Amazon.
The Membership Committee reported that the guild currently has 39 members and the guild wished Amanda, Vicki, Sandy, Charlene and Lisa a Happy May Birthday!
The Secret Stitcher Swap for June is a fat quarter.
Registration is now open for the retreat to be held the last weekend in September. Registration will close at the August meeting.
Registration is now open for the Carolina Oneta Watercolor Quilt workshop to be held on October 22nd.
