Each officer reviewed their upcoming responsibilities for June:
- For President, Amanda purchased greeting cards and art prints for goodies bags, plus additional ‘big’ prizes for the end of the year. Total purchases were approximately $150.
- For Vice President, Danica indicated that she has received numerous donations such as patterns, fat quarters, stickers, etc., to be used for the retreat and challenge prizes.
- For Treasurer, Adrienne noted she is speaking with Redstone regarding new fraudulent charges appearing on the guild credit card; the officers approved a motion to move money from checking into savings. The monthly report was reviewed and Adrienne noted that such needs to schedule the missed 2020 audit for summer 2022.
- For Secretary, Pam noted that the website, calendar and minutes are current; and the June newsletter was distributed to members on June 1st.
Next, Amanda reviewed the Committee Chair reports: (i) for Membership, the next Secret Stitcher program swap item in June is a fat quarter; (ii) for Social Media, Crystal noted only one member volunteered for the member spotlight; (iii) for Community Outreach, workdays will resume in August; several designs were submitted for the QuiltCon challenge; and Amanda noted that Trina wants to step down in the Community Outreach Chair position; (iv) for Fundraising, Danica noted she is continuing to look for volunteers for the fundraising committee; a suggestion was noted for the next Bingo round to promote Amazon Smile to a friend; Danica is looking into fundraising to sell ads in the newsletter; November 29th is Giving Tuesday; and Danica is looking into grant proposals for Community Outreach opportunities; and (v) for Programming, Amanda that Debby is making good progress on the programs; the officers discussed possible workshops in the fall and noted that Calico Cove is an option to sew in-person for a maximum of 10-persons.
Amanda noted there are still openings for the in-person retreat.
Amanda noted the DEA&I Committee will meet at the end of June for a training session.
Ongoing guild events were discussed, including: (i) Bingo - Adrienne send out new Bingo cards in late April; (ii) Lone Robin - Pam noted the May design of tetrominoes has had a robust discussion on Slack; (iii) Danica stated the MQG Webinar Study Group will review how to enter a quilt in QuiltCon; and (iv) Board Game Night of Island Escape Room will be at the end of June.
Amanda reviewed the three options for the “Pay What You Can” model of workshops and demonstrated the website Passage as a method to use. The goal is to switch all of the guild events to this model in 2023.
Amanda noted that Wilson’s is having a customer appreciation sale and will make an announcement at the June meeting to encourage informal carpools.
Amanda noted that the COVID levels in Huntsville are at a “high” level and encourages mask wearing for in-person events.
