Amanda reviewed the current guild happenings, including: (i) the current challenge of Transparency (reveal in October); (ii) the Slack organizational goal of the month of thread; and (iii) the new community outreach block of warp and weft.
The Annual Guild Retreat is scheduled for September 29th - October 2nd, both in-person and at-home. Retreat goodie bags will be shipped this week.
The next Community Outreach Work Session will be November 5th. The next Sewing Saturday is October 8th, beginning at 11:30 AM via Zoom.
The Carolina Oneto workshop is scheduled for October 22nd.
On leadership updates, we are promoting the guild in Auburn and surrounding areas. We have had a good response to sponsors this year and the retreat goodie bags will reflect the sponsors’ generosity.
On the National MQG front, members were reminded of to register for the MQG Sessions, a new virtual event to be held October 13th -16th. QuiltCon quilt submissions are open through October 31st.
A new Block of the Quarter - Warp and Weft - is ongoing. Members were reminded to go to the Community Outreach page on the website to record their contributions. Prizes will be awarded. I Spy Kits and Pillowcase Kits are available for pick up.
The QuiltCon Community Outreach quilt has been sent to members for quilting. Each person will have approximately 1.5 weeks to quilt their portion of the quilt. Decorative stitching, hand stitching, and variegated thread are all welcome.
Members were reminded to bring finished auction projects to the Fundraising Committee. Members were encouraged to stay after the General Meeting for a short Fundraising Committee meeting.
The Membership Committee reported that the guild currently has 40 members and the guild wished Molly, Cory, Trina, Sherry and Kerry a Happy Birthday!
Members were advised that unless additional members registered for the Carolina Oneta workshop, we would need to cancel due to low attendance.
Members are encouraged to send pictures of their Sewing Pet Pals for inclusion on Social Media.
T-shirts and hoodie pre-orders have been placed. It is hopeful that the items will be received in time for the retreat.
For next year, guild leadership will be restructured. Instead of having committee chairs, the chair positions will be vice president positions. The current vice president position will become the vice president of guild relationships. New vice president positions will attend monthly board meetings with the committees restructuring to allow a general pool of volunteer opportunities. Onboarding will change to a leadership retreat on January 7-8, 2023. Nominations will be accepted in November for open board positions.
Beverly Keyser provided a presentation on Kaleidoscope Quilts using the stack ’n whack method she learned from a Bethany Reynolds workshop.
Sew & Tell presentation was shown. Crystal Brewer won the Community Outreach Quarter 2 drawing.
