Danica reviewed the current guild happenings, including: (i) the Love Paper Piecing challenge which will be revealed in May; (ii) the Slack organizational challenge of books and patterns; (iii) the community outreach block of crosses and pluses; and (iv) the Lone Robin Sew Along.
There will be no Community Outreach Work Session in May. The next Sewing Saturday is May 14th, beginning at 9:00 AM at S&R Sewing and Vacuum. The virtual component begins at 11:30 AM via Zoom. Drop and Swap will also occur at the Sewing Saturday.
On leadership updates, Drop and Swaps will be combined into Sewing Saturdays in the future. The next MQG Webinar Video discussion is on April 30th at 7:00 PM to discuss the webinar regarding Fabric Collage Application from Shannon Brinkey titled “Scraps and Pieces”.
On the National MQG front, be sure to read the quarterly newsletter for information on quilt patterns that can be downloaded..
Trina noted that there are 3 Community Outreach quilt tops ready to be bound, 7 quilts needing quilted, and 16 completed quilt tops. The Block of the Quarter was discussed — X’s and +’s. The background (corner squares) should be light low volume fabric with multi-colored fabric for the remaining pieces. Members were reminded to go to the Community Outreach page on the website to record their contributions. Prizes will be awarded. I Spy Kits and Pillowcase Kits are available for pick up.
The next DEA&I Committee meeting is April 23rd; all members are welcome to attend; 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM via Zoom.
The Fundraising Committee noted the Green Pea Press campaign begins this week. Volunteers are still needed at the Drop & Swaps to assist members in completing the Auction item forms for any donated items.
The Membership Committee reported that the guild currently has 39 members and the guild wished Tiavalya, Pam, Lauren, Kelci and Mary a Happy April Birthday! We welcomed new member Cory Cox to the guild!
The Secret Stitcher Swap for June is a fat quarter. Members may treat their partner during April and May, but it is not required.
Registration is now open for the retreat to be held the last weekend in September.
Crystal reviewed the books and patterns organizational challenge and noted that the Social Media Committee will be hosting a member spotlight. If you are interested in volunteering to be featured on social media, please contact Crystal.
The Quarterly Bingo cards consisting of member personal goals and guild goals will be distributed by April 29th. If your card gets two Bingo Rows, either vertical, horizontal, or diagonal, please send an email to the guild or post to Slack.
The guild will host a member Destash Swap and Sale on May 17th at Stovehouse after the general meeting. Members will set their own prices for their fabric, books, patterns, notions, etc.
Debby discussed the Quilters Assisting Ukraine program hosted by Bonnie Hunter’s using the Hearts of Hope Pattern.
Danica presented the Send a Message Challenge.
Debby presented a program on Labeling and Documenting Your Quilts and showed a video from Quilt Alliance. Sew and Tell items and the Secret Stitcher Swap “Postcards” Reveal were shown.
Beverly Keyser won the quarterly Community Outreach drawing and Diane Lyles won the Curves Challenge drawing.
