Rhonda Pierce, Schmetz Needle Ambassador, presented an informative discussion of the benefits of universal, jeans, topstitch, quilting, microtex, jersey ballpoint, and super non-stick needles.
Amanda then reviewed the ‘New for 2022’ program highlights, including the Slack organizational challenge, quarterly bingo goals, a Lone Robin Sew Along, the Secret Stitcher program, a MQG webinar study group and a board games social night.
Amanda reminded members that the current challenge, Curves, was ongoing. Members are to take a traditional block and modify it with curves. Reveal will be in April.
The next Sewing Saturday is February 5th, beginning at 11:30 AM via Zoom. There will be no Drop & Swap in January, but will return in February at Trina’s house.
Based on popular request, the Zoom password has been removed. The Facebook Group has been archived.
If you are interested in serving the Guild, the Programming Committee Chair and Librarian positions are currently open.
Trina noted that there are 6 Community Outreach quilt tops ready; 3 to be bound and 3 to be quilted. A new Block of the Quarter was released. Thank you to SewFreshQuilts for the use of the Car pattern. Lisa noted that if you are using your own fabric for the pillowcases for the North Alabama Foster Closet to please pre-wash the fabric before sewing and to use solids or totals for the cuff as these are embroidered with the child’s name.
The Membership Committee reported that the Guild currently has 35 members and the Guild wished Paula a Happy January Birthday!
The Guild is currently accepting speaker suggestions for future programs in stash building/management, dying techniques, and transparency.
Pam presented the Lone Robin Sew Along. The first quilt element is Curves.
Participants in the Mini Mod Block revealed their quilting projects and Sew and Tell items were shown.
