Each officer reviewed their upcoming responsibilities for September:
- For President, Amanda noted the MQG has a new online discussion board for guild leaders to talk to each other; could be used for guilds to announce extra spots available in workshops.
- For Vice President, Danica reported that she is still keeping in touch with the group in Auburn. In addition, registrations for MQG Sessions and QuiltCon are ongoing; entry deadline for quilts is October 31st.
- For Treasurer, Adrienne noted the Redstone debit cards have been replacesd and fraudulent charges have been reimbursed. The guild checking account balance was discussed. Additional tasks to be completed include monthly report, audit of old business, and pending retreat reimbursements.
- For Secretary, Pam noted that the website is current; the September newsletter was distributed to members on September 7th.
Amanda noted the DEA&I Committee meeting in September will discuss the outreach event, tentatively scheduled for March 18, 2023.
Ongoing guild events were discussed, including: (i) Bingo - Adrienne sent out Q3 Bingo cards; (ii) the September Lone Robin design element is Reduce, Reuse and Recycle; (iii) the October 29th MQG Webinar Study Group is yet to be decided; and (iv) Board Game Night for October will again be the Island Escape Room.
The officers discussed elections for next year, noting that membership has dropped due to COVID. The officers discussed moving committee chair positions into the Board as Vice President positions for programming, fundraising, community outreach and DEAI. Maintenance of membership rosters will be moved to the Treasurer, and member engagement will be moved to Programming Vice President. Social Media will move under the Secretary duties as a volunteer position. The current Vice President position will maintain sponsorships, relationships with local shops and communicating with national.
Amanda noted that the COVID levels in Huntsville are at a “high” level and encourages mask wearing for in-person events. Officers were again encouraged to be on the lookout for places to hold in-person events.
The meeting adjourned at 11:05 PM.
