Each officer reviewed their upcoming responsibilities for June:
- For President, Amanda noted that the Global Quilt Connection Sampler Platter is available for a flat fee of $50 for all members of small guilds; the sampler allows guilds to preview the teaching style of instructors. Amanda also updated the website to reflect a prorated membership fee for the balance of the year. In addition, the website is now linked to the Square account.
- For Vice President, Danica indicated that she has received numerous donations such as patterns, fat quarters, stickers, etc., to be used for the retreat and challenge prizes. Business cards were recently distributed to businesses in an effort to form partnerships with the guild. Danica has collected information from various guilds that offer ads in the newsletter and will report at a future board meeting. Finally, thank you cards will be brought to the retreat for members to sign thanking vendors for the donations
- For Treasurer, Adrienne noted continues to work with Redstone regarding new fraudulent charges appearing on the guild credit card. Money was moved from checking into savings as approved last month by the board. Adrienne noted that she needs to schedule the missed 2020 audit for summer 2022.
- For Secretary, Pam noted that the website needs to be updated with the minutes from the June meeting, however, other aspects of the website are current; the July newsletter was distributed to members on July 2nd.
Amanda noted the DEA&I Committee met in June for a training session. The outreach event planning is the next priority for the Committee.
Ongoing guild events were discussed, including: (i) Bingo - Adrienne will send out a new survey for Bingo cards; (ii) Lone Robin - Pam noted the July design is Sticks, Strips and Stripes; (iii) Danica noted the June 25th MQG Webinar Study Group on entering a quilt in QuiltCon was a success; and (iv) Board Game Night in June of Island Escape Room was successful and we plan to do it again in October.
Amanda noted the Sewing Saturday at S&R for July has been cancelled due to an outbreak of COVID at the store.
Amanda noted that Trina is now the Co-Chair for the Community Outreach Committee. The guild is looking for another Co-Chair and if there are no volunteers, the position duties will be divided amongst numerous members.
Amanda reviewed the “Pay What You Can” model of workshops and noted the new Square website builder offers an option where you can enter a ‘donation’ and specify an amount. The goal is to switch all of the guild events to this model in 2023. The Weebly website will be replaced with the Square format by the end of the year.
Amanda noted that the COVID levels in Huntsville are at a “high” level and encourages mask wearing for in-person events. Officers were encouraged to be on the lookout for places to hold in-person events.
The meeting adjourned at 10:30 PM.
