We discussed what to do with the unsold auction items. There were 5. Options - return to maker, have a second chance auction. Are we going to do the auction again next year? We will have a feedback survey soon, but tentatively yes. We decided to give people the option.
It was suggested to offer first-class shipping as an option for the auction next year.
We discussed November expenses and the budget for 2018. Rachel volunteered to audit the financials. Lisa suggested looking at the PTO website on how to do an audit.
We discussed the programming survey. We had 12 responses and looked at the 2018 calendar to see what to put on it. We decided to do the 2018 goal challenge. There was 50% interest and it is a low effort project.
Option - we could sell the quilt from the MQG challenge and donate the money to St Jude. We have to donate all the money - verify with MQG.
Trina offered to do the fabric / shibori dyeing at her house outside.
We decided to keep the first Saturday as a sewing Saturday tentatively pending results from the feedback survey. The retreat will be March 16 - 18th at the Red Rooster. The Wilson fabric sale was put on the calendar for July, date to be confirmed closer to the sale. We decided to drop the EQ8 workshop, there was not enough interest. The online auction was added to the calendar for November / December. The charity quilts were very popular. We decided to have a Buy/Trade/Sale table at the meetings. We decided to add a Bullet Journalling workshop and a Prepping for Long Arming workshop to the agenda. We decided to have 2 days of Charity Quilt Assembly. We also decided on a Quilt as you go workshop and a Building a Big Ironing Board workshop. Possibly with one person buying supplies and attendees paying the host. We decided to keep the assigned charity blocks and Round Robin.
We discussed which challenges to include and decided on: Orphan Block Challenge, Make it Modern challenge, Crayon Color Challenge, 2018 Goal Challenge and the Charm Square Challenge.
We have the November Library Window at the Main Library. Possibly put auction items in the window. We could put fat quarter bundles in the auction.
We made a tentative 2018 programming calendar. We will go over the feedback survey at the next officer meeting. We had a discussion about dues vs fundraising. Dues won't cover overhead if we want speakers etc. in the future.
We discussed putting the MQG newsletter info on the Google calendar.
We discussed the Charity Blocks. We discussed the strip quilt for the January Charity Blocks. Ok to use background fabric bought by Trina. We need to keep a running taly of how many charity quilts so that we know how many are ready to quilt etc. Keep track of Charity Blocks - who made them and how many for the raffle.
January Officer meeting was scheduled for January 14th. It will be on the 2nd Sunday after that.
