The following officers provided general updates:
- For President, Amanda provided informational updates on QuiltCon, including (i) ordering 1” RCMQG logo stickers for the QuiltCon name badges.
- For Treasurer, Beverly noted: (i) the new 990 vendor information has been received; (ii) the 2021 and 2022 profit and loss statements are almost ready to send to National MQG; and (iii) the 2021 ledger is being finalized.
- For Secretary, Pam reminded officers to provide information for the newsletter by the 20th of each month.
- For Vice President of Community Outreach, Linda noted that: (i) Southern Charm is having an all-day sew day on 04/01/2023, 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM; $10 for snacks and goodies; (ii) quilts and pillowcases are ready for donations; (iii) more kits are being made; and (iv) quilt labels will need to be ordered from a different source, as the last order faded when washed.
- For Vice President of Guild Relationships, Danica noted that National MQG has guild leadership resources on their website and requested leaders take a look for your area of responsibility. All leaders should be receiving the monthly National MQG leadership newsletter.
- Amanda noted as of 02/03/2023 the guild has been switched to the Pro Plan under Slack.
- The Amazon Smile Program is ending. We will receive the February disbursement, and approximately three months later they will make a donation equal to our average quarterly payment from 2022. There will be no further fundraising after that.
- Rocket City Sewcial is closing in order to spend more time with her family; members are being given a 30% discount on items in the store and online.
- Huntsville Historical Board is interested in partnering with RCMQG on potential projects. Tiavalya Befecadu is on the board.
- The monthly financial report was reviewed.
- Payment of the National MQG dues will occur at the end of March; members not renewing by then will be dropped from Slack and email.
- Propose adding a “good news” section to the newsletter to promote guild members. Will also include calls for entry for quilts.
- We continue to have difficulty identifying a location to hold Sewcial Saturdays; board members were encouraged to populate the meeting excel spreadsheet.
- Tiavalya Befecadu was contacted by Hyper Local, a lifestyle magazine, about doing a feature on the intergenerational appeal of quilting; further discussion will occur as more is learned about this opportunity.
- While very minimal mail is received at the PO Box, we will keep the current box at the increased rate.
- The website redesign through Square/Weebly will include payment of PayPal options; the goal is to have the website redesigned by June.
- Amanda will lead the February program on Photography Tips.
- Pam and Danica are working on the Secret Stitcher: Getting to Know You program to begin in April for sign ups and run through September; a total of 20 questions; 5 questions each in May, June, July and August; mainly open ended questions with only a few short answer/yes/no questions.
