Danica provided a program on Mosaic Quilting. Examples of mosaic patterns in tile, carpet, and paintings were provided, along with the definition and history of mosaics. She reviewed modern mosaics using various elements. In quilting, mosaic patchwork and mosaic patterns were reviewed, especially the quilts of Pat Durbin and Cheryl Lynch.
Amanda noted that starting next month, the guild will be adding an in-person social time from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM before each meeting.
Danica noted that QuiltCon 2025 will be held in Phoenix, Arizona. QuiltCon 2024 is in Raleigh, North Carolina with Jacquie Gering as the featured quilter
Amanda reminded members to review the volunteer opportunities, including assisting with the Celebrate Quilting Community Event, retreat test and kit projects,
Amanda announced that registration for the 2023 retreat is now open for both members and non-members. Both an in-person or at-home options are available. Menus will be sent out closer to the event for those electing the meal options.
Amanda noted that swap partners have been emailed for those participating in the Mini Swap with the Pensacola Modern Quilt Guild. A reminder that June 30th is the deadline to mail the Mini to your swap partner.
Due to numerous events occurring in June, the Potluck Party Challenge reveal has been moved to June.
Amanda announced the Summer Supply Sale, a consignment sale of all things sewing and quilting related, will be held on June 24th at Innerspace Brewing. Consignment registration is open with a $10 registration fee. Payment will be made by Square and cash. The consignment rules were reviewed with further information to be published in the newsletter.
Amanda noted that volunteers are needed to help organize the Celebrate Quilting Community Event to be held on September 16th at the Richard Showers Community Center. Volunteers are needed to assist with planning community activities, giveaways, a mini quilt show, and a raffle quilt.
Pam announced the Secret Stitcher: Getting to Know You Edition. Sign ups begin in April, followed by 5 questions to answer each month of May, June, July and August. The program culminates with a member make based on the information gained from the 20 questions.
Linda Hornsby won the prize drawing for the Circus Cabin Quilt Reveal. Lisa Yarost won the prize drawing for the First Quarter Community Outreach involvement.
