June Meeting

6/19/2018

There were 10 members and 5 visitors in attendance. Saleemah has been fully added to the bank account and our PO Box has been renewed. By-laws have been updated on the website. Quilt Con 2019 Membership opens June 26th at 9am - one week from today.

We had our Color Challenge reveal. This was a challenge where people drew crayons and made a mini with only those colors and neutrals. Rachel, Kris, Fern, Pat, Vicki, Glenn P, Sherry and Amanda all turned in items for the challenge.

Sew and Tell
Rachel turned in an addition to the Robot round robin. Fern made a red quilt top made with Improv and scraps. She also showed the fat quarters she dyed at the workshop last month. Pat showed her dyed fabric as well. Louise reported that the Quilt Museum in Paducah is having a Japanese quilting exhibit. Manda did the Candy Cat quilt along on instagram and has a paper pieced twin size quilt top. She also brought a Harry Potter themed queen sized quilt that she made. It had paper piecing and hand painting. She used @quiltingbydavid to quilt it. Lois brought a throw quilt that was the first modern quilt she made. She also brought a wall hanging with antique blocks she picked up at an estate sale. Suzanne brought a top with a swan that she made using paper piecing.

The Quilt As You Go workshop is this Saturday at Threaded Needle Too. Glenn passed out a flyer for the workshop and showed a sample.

There will be a Guild trip to Wilson’s on Saturday July 14th. We will meet in the morning, drive down get coffee, go shopping, and get lunch.

We will be doing a skill-building Block of the Month starting at the Sewing Saturday in August. It will be online as well, but doing it at the sewing day will allow people to work together. Fabric requirements will be passed out at the July sewing Saturday.

The Charm Square Challenge is ongoing and the reveal will be in August. The non-quilt item challenge is ongoing until October.

Amanda went over how to register for Quilt Con. Members get a free registration, but need to register by November 30th.

Kris won the drawing for the Color Challenge.
