Monthly financial report shown for February and shown where it is on the Google Docs.
Write ups for officer positions are due Next officer’s meeting. Lisa turned in the one for treasurer today. Lisa resigned as treasurer, but is not leaving the guild and will be available to help during transition. She gave a thumb drive with all files produced in the last year.
Membership: Rachel emailed Cynthia but hasn’t heard back
Website: new website needs testing on mobile. Change “join” to contact/join. Looks good. Want photos to pull automatically, don’t want to have to spend time curating. Social bubbles don’t appear on mobile. 2 column format disappears on mobile. Three bar menu right up on edge of logo, can we add space between. Upload handouts at end of meeting, minus financial info.
Volunteer signup sheet for committees somewhere, at meetings better?
Charity: MQG charity quilt has been shipped back to us, Amanda has custody, we need to have a discussion of when to auction it and what to do with funds.
Charity sew day March 3rd, 7 bundles, 4 tops completed. Sherry took one of the bundles to quilt. We need to find others to quilt the rest. Maybe bring them to retreat for someone to work on.
Kitting tops with batting and backing should make it easier to quilt the charity quilts.
Non quilt items needed for auction, maybe announce every meeting that we need non quilt items each month. Start in April and announce non-quilt items, free form challenge, run through Oct. Ask Trina to name it because she gets catchy names.
Programming, retreat is ready to roll, everything is packed and prepped and put together, a couple of things are being shipped, a couple of things are perishable and have to be picked up right before.
Trying to find a good balance of activity and quiet to sew for retreat. Thank Yous being handled by Amanda and Sherry to make sure folks who donated prizes will be thanked and have attention on social media and hard copy to display. Sherry has been handling letters for tax purposes. Budget 295 and spent 295.63. Learned that retreat deposit needs to include both Red Rooster deposit and small amount to cover prizes purchased.
Assignments: Orphan block, Mary turned in two tops, Trina issued the challenge. Rachel is issuing the crayon challenge, draw 3 crayons and choose 2 of them and neutrals their to make mini or mug rug.
Charm square challenge, materials ordered,
Make it modern, fabric is on hand.
Upcoming workshops and presentation, bullet journal for quilters.
Accessing your MQG online benefits for April — need presenter, possibly Sherry or Trina. May 19th Fabric dying workshop - Jen will lead at Trina's house. Quilt as you go workshop, Glenn P. Rachel will email. Longarm, Jen. Ironing board, Amanda.
Goals and Discussion: In order to reach a lot of our goals we need to increase our membership. Goals fall into short term, intermediate term, and long term.
Short term goals can go into the survey, but communicate that we’re not ignoring the larger goals, but we’re focusing on what we can do.
Membership goals: organized by process stages, advertising,
Low and no cost advertising: NPR, AL.com, flyer. Research no cost and low cost advertising.
Events: events we put on, minis at other businesses like breweries. Library display window, maybe do that at other places, too.
Events we participate in: go set up a booth, Athens Fiddler’s Contest, other events? Quilt Crawl through businesses downtown.
Who could put energy and time into making contacts?
Build relationships with quilt related businesses. Offer to give presentations to other guilds.
Visitors: info cards and digital copy on website. Integrate them better in the meeting. Transition social time into helping them through the meeting.
Recruit members to be ambassadors bring visitors into social group during social time.
