Each officer reviewed their upcoming responsibilities for March:
- For President, Amanda noted the guild has moved into a new storage unit centrally located in Huntsville for a slightly higher cost than the previous unit; Amanda brought back from QuiltCon ‘tons of swag’ for use as retreat prizes, door prizes and bingo prizes; and Debby Lee will now serve as the new programming chair with Charlotte Blum serving as retreat chair
- For Vice President, Danica indicated that she continues to work on vendors for sponsorship or partnership and continues to work with many local quilt shops to build relationships.
- For Treasurer, Adrienne noted the credit union charges should be refunded; the monthly report is pending; a pre-audit was completed on March 6th, with the final audit to be completed on March 13th; it appears an audit for 2020 was not completed; the fiscal year 2021 report to National MQG is due in September; and the guild taxes have been filed.
- For Secretary, Pam noted that the website, calendar and minutes are current; and the March newsletter was distributed to members on March 1st.
The Officers recommended several books to be purchased with the C&T gift certificate.
Ongoing guild events were discussed, including: (i) Bingo - Adrienne reviewed the first quarter Bingo event; the guild made recommendations for placing the Bingo goals on the Guild website; Adrienne is to remind members to send their next quarter goals by April 19th in order for new Bingo cards to be sent prior to the end of the month; (ii) Lone Robin - Pam indicated the March design element is ready for reveal; (iii) the first MQG webinar on freezer paper piecing was a huge success; and (iv) Board Game Night is scheduled for March 26th, 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
In-person events were discussed, including (i) Drop & Swap at Stovehouse on March 19th; and (ii) Sewing Saturdays will start in May at S&R Sewing and Vacuum in Huntsville.
In honor of National Quilting Day, the guild will sponsor a ‘RCMQG Loves Our Local Quilt Shops’ on Instagram. Members, and others, may take a selfie, post on Instagram, tag RCMQG, the local quilt shop and mention why you like the store; all postings will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift certificate from the local quilt shop. Use the hashtag: #RCMQGlovesourLQS.
The Officers discussed COVID-19 updates and decided that when the guild begins to meet in person, that masks are welcome, but not required unless current community standard require their use. The guild will continue to follow CDC guidelines. The Drop & Swaps will terminate when the in-person meetings begin, but for now, we do not currently have a location for in-person meetings.
The meeting adjourned at 11:45 PM.
