Each officer reviewed their upcoming responsibilities for April:
- For President, Amanda purchased a webcam for the guild to use for in-person meetings; the guild purchased 7 additional camp mugs from the Green Pea Press campaign in order to meet the minimum number of products for the campaign to print; the cost of the mugs will be taken from the profit of the campaign; the guild will make approximately $75-$80 for the campaign.
- For Vice President, Danica indicated the donor prizes are starting to be received; the prizes will be used for the retreat and challenges; the officers discussed selling ads in the newsletter for businesses that are not sponsors.
- For Treasurer, due to Adrienne’s absence, the report is postponed; the officers discussed the Amazon Smiles rebates and suggested an article be placed in the newsletter
- For Secretary, Pam noted that the website, calendar and minutes are current; and the May newsletter was distributed to members on May 6th; due to the May meeting being in-person, it was decided that the Sew & Tell and Love FPP Reveal be postponed until June.
Next, Amanda reviewed the Committee Chair reports: (i) for Membership, the next Secret Stitcher program swap item in June is a fat quarter; (ii) for Social Media, Crystal dropped off a bunch of completed community outreach quilts; the officers suggested that the May destash sale be promoted on Instagram; (iii) for Community Outreach, starting in June, the workdays will be on the first Saturday at the South Huntsville Library; an email was sent to members announcing the QuiltCon challenge with members requesting to submit quilt ideas by June 3rd; (iv) for Fundraising, Danica indicated the first fundraising meeting was held with future committee meetings to be held at 5:00 PM on the same day as the general meeting; thank you cards will be available at the retreat for members to sign for donor items; some auction items are being turned in and are ready to be photographed; Pam volunteered to help with the auction item descriptions; a mailing list of individuals interested in receiving information about the guild was discussed; an auction item information donation form was developed and requested to add to the website; (v) for Programming, Amanda noted she will speak with Debby about future programs.
Amanda noted there are still openings for the in-person retreat. Officers discussed possibly capping registration at 50% due to COVID.
Amanda discussed an issue involving gender recognition.
Ongoing guild events were discussed, including: (i) Bingo - Adrienne send out new Bingo cards in late April; first quarter Bingo prizes are available for pick up at Sewing Saturday; (ii) Lone Robin - Pam revealed the May design element; (iii) Danica stated she is still selecting the June 25th MQG webinar; and (iv) Board Game Night will be held in June.
Pam will send a reminder to members regarding the May 17th general meeting program of Member Swap and Destash to be held at Stovehouse. It was suggested that members unable to attend in-person should use the Slack channel on buy/sell/trade to post destash items.
Amanda is still looking at the “Pay What You Can” model of workshops and demonstrated the website Passage as a method to use.
Amanda noted that the in-person Sewing Saturday went well with about 10 members attending; the virtual set-up went well too.
Amanda questioned if the guild should make a ‘field trip’ to Wilson’s to partake in their annual fabric sale; officers agreed that it was a good idea; Amanda will obtain further information.
